Review by hotel critic
My recent stay at St Clair Hotel Hostel in downtown Vancouver was quite the adventure, despite a few bumps along the way. Set in a charming heritage-listed building, its location across from Holy Rosary Cathedral offers breathtaking views, especially from the rooftop terrace. The community atmosphere resonated with me as a mountaineer, as travelers shared tales over breakfast, fueling our wanderlust. The hostel truly caters to those eager to explore, with easy access to local attractions and a bike rental right at Cathedral Park. Unfortunately, the accommodations were marred by a mouse encounter during the night. While the staff was generally friendly, their handling of our situation felt lacking, and a sincere apology was never offered. Despite the temporary discomfort, I appreciated the facilities, especially the communal spaces. Availability of guest laundry was a lifesaver for my active lifestyle—great for washing the gear after a day of urban exploration. St Clair has a special charm, but I would advise fellow adventurers to check for cleanliness to ensure an enjoyable stay.
